Noticed in Paris : Mobiles work underground on the metro

At least everywhere I went. It was great actually. Normally dead time on the metro travelling between the here and there could be used to text your friends and what not. Wait till I get an iPhone and move back there.

Not sure when that started to happen. Anyone know ? I know when I was living in there and left in 2002, mobiles didn’t work underground, so not sure how they’ve got it working now.

I wonder if you could get a laptop, a G3 modem and just run around Paris underground all day surfing the net.

Of course, it does bring us closer and closer to that idea of ubiquitous connectivity which is all the more scarier because people expect you to be connected, but was still impressed and the techno-magic.
