The Host
I watched this film because it was on Tarentino’s top 20 films since 1992 list and I had never heard of it.
And I’m surprised, while this generally received great reviews from the critics in both Korea and the US (and is apparently the highest grossing South Korean movie of all time), I didn’t think it was either scary or particularly groundbreaking for the horror genre. Maybe you need to watch it in Korean. I did find the combination of horror and humour a bit incongruous in places.
Great creature effects though. Loved the way it brachiated.
