Charlie Wilson’s War

Actually, one of the better films I’ve seen though it’s kinda scary how it deals with the covert, and semi-illegal, funnelling of arms and money to Afghanistan during the Soviet-Afghan War. I do love the finishing quote for the film though, from the Congressman himself that made it possible.

These things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world… and then we fucked up the end game.

I think the only disturbing thing about the film is the way the film kind of flippantly treats the way various nations were manipulated into providing arms to this struggle, with obviously no interest in the actual Afghans themselves even if they try and make it seem like Wilson cared about that in the end.

Def best film I’ve seen on a plane in a while.
