Economist livability survey ranks Vancouver first

Wow, rather impressively the Economist has ranked Vancouver as the most livable city in the entire world and ahead of Mercer’s usual Swiss frontrunners (and Toronto was 4th a la The Economist ! Yay !)

Basically, you want to live well it looks like you need to live in either Canada or Australia according to this survey as 60% of the top 10 were either up top or down under.

In case you’re interested :

  • Vancouver (1st)
  • Vienna (2nd)
  • Melbourne (3rd)
  • Toronto (4th)
  • Perth (5th)
  • Calgary (5th)
  • Helsinki (7th)
  • Geneva (8th)
  • Sydney (8th)
  • Zurich (8th)

Thank god they didn’t list where London was, I’m sure it would have made me cry…

For some reason, this seems to sort a lot better with my personal experience (ok, admittedly I’m Canadian) than the Mercer list I linked to above. Anyone else have opinions ?

Sydney 8th, you say… Hmmm…
