Free flights to Australia plan for tourists

Australia is large on my list of goals for this year, so I really love this idea (and wondered when deep discounting in the downturn was going to start happening).

Basically, the MayDay Project means you get a free flight but would be required to spend a specified amount in Australia (they quote say $5k AUS) while you were there.

I could easily do this. To be honest, my spending in a country easily outstrips whatever I spent to get to the actual location.

When prompted, carriers such as Virgin, have already said they’d be totally on board with the idea.

Hmmmmm… I’m wondering how we could show support for this initiative. Facebook Causes ? A pledgebank ?
