One of the weird things I've noticed since coming here is how many people are leaving Vancouver at any one point in time. A serious amount of transients. Makes making friends difficult because many people are in the process of being here temporarily till they go somewhere else.
Maybe it's just me and the way I initially kind of fall in love with new places I'm in (Paris leaps to mind) but Vancouver definitely feels like a place which has a nice balance of all the things I'm looking for. Ocean, sunshine, nature, and a big enough city life that I'm not going to get bored any time soon.
I mean, there is a lot to like about this place. Walking along the seawall to work this morning (suffer ! :-) ), there were seagulls on top of the inukshuk, a bald eagle circling over the outer marker and the gentle lapping of the waves before I even got to the office.
Interestingly, it seems it's the social scene for most people. A number of women I've met here say it's hard to meet friends even though I seem to have had no difficulty whatsoever. Weird. But it is strange how experiences in a place differ according to the people you meet while you're out and about.
