Stanley Park, BBQs and the Symphony of Fire
Saturday started off a little late driven by the fact I didn’t get to sleep till well past 3am. CC and I had talked about brunch in the morning but were both so dead that she begged off to get more sleep and make a peach cobbler for the BBQ while I went down to Stanley Park to walk around in the sunshine and try and get some of my Anth 495 photo assignment done.
It was a beautiful day. Perfect sunshine, a light breeze to make it comfortable and blue skies. I walked round the sea wall, snapping pictures as I went of my “Photographing photographers” series.
CC called and we met along the sea wall and then made our way over to the Granville Island market, totally losing track of time before making our way over to the BBQ. I personally love BBQs and had an awesome time, meeting a whole bunch of new people and drinking way too much Gray Monk Pinot Gris (highly recommended) before we left to go to Kit’s Beach to see the Symphony of Fire/Celebration of Light as darkness descended.
Sweden was up that night and we had nice seats. It was a lot of fun, mostly because everyone I was with and around us kept making cracks. Some very interesting fireworks but everyone I was with said that China was better on the Wednesday. However, the finale was spectacular.
After that, we trundled back to CR’s place where the BBQ was held and curled up with some more wine and talked till the wee hours, planning our assault on Whistler the day after.
I barely remember getting back to the hotel I was so tired, but it was another in a rapid string of fabulous days in Van.
